A Cautionary Note

Anyone using the Internet should do so with caution. We hear news stories of predators who prey on children. We know about "contests" used to collect personal information.
Unfortunately, there are also people who abuse the trust of Senior Citizens.

SOME SAFETY TIPS:
  • Don't give out personal information. Use your first name only, or a nickname.

  • Don't trust people and companies you have not known and dealt with for a long time.

  • Beware of anyone who wants to part you and your money.

  • Go to established, trusted sources for information. Double check anything that sounds suspicious.

  •  If something doesn't seem right, contact the authorities:
    • Local police
    • Your Internet provider
    • A government ombudsman or advocate for Senior Citizens
